Milan Fashion Week A/W18: Street Style

By the time Milan fashion week comes around, there is no excuse for showgoers not to be a season ahead in their attendee outfits. New York set the benchmark; and London showed us the weird and wonderful; so then it was up to Milan, known for its renaissance and understated cool style, to take trends and street styles from the previous shows and produce something special.

Gucci is perhaps the biggest fashion brand of the city so it is no surprise their classic logo has featured on many people’s outfits this week. With high street stores creating adaptions of the iconic brand’s logos in mass, such look could be easily achievable on a budget (if with a bizarre kink in the lettering, or a random misspelling). However, this is Milan Fashion Week and we highly doubt anything is less than immaculately, legitimate Gucci.

Did we say definitely all legitimate? Well from a distance we cannot actually identify if this branded belt is real, but we love the look! Graphic tees, especially statement slogans have been around for a while now and maintain an effortless chic when worn well. A colourful combination of Chanel’s Classic Tweed and Gucci’s Striped trims makes this jacket scream springtime style. Yellow is a key colour for this season, and cosy couture is a trend set to last at least for the year, so why not edit your old outfits to create a colourful rendition of a classic?

Heritage tweed and checks are not going anywhere. This gorgeous coat implies vintage elegance whilst remaining terrifically on trend with its (fake??) fur cuffs and preppy red check print. The outfit remains very vintage whilst terrifically on trend with metallic, embroidered trousers, paired with a tracksuit jacket possessing a striped waistband trim,  creating a new level of athleisure style.

Power dressing, particularly women’s suiting seams to be making a miraculous come-back for Autumn/Winter 2018. (Find some 80s shoulder pads, you’ll need them!) Stylish suiting for the season will be best worn at night: satin, sheen, and sparkles are the styles you must stick to with this trend. Head to toe in one colour is also a key contender for hottest trend for fall, so this lady’s look ticks all the boxes for best dressed this Milan Fashion Week.

Real or fake, fur is furiously fashionable right now and will continue to be so for fall. Whilst next season specifies smaller proportions and panels of the fluffy fabric, now is all about the colour. Above we see the colour of the season: Orange out on the streets of Milan Fashion Week. Whilst the look below takes tips from Pantone’s colour of the year and wears it head to toe.

The mahoosive turn-up trousers of the above look cannot go unmentioned, especially when styled with springtime yellow socks and glitter meets metallic sandals. This lady knows her trends and she has combined them all especially for fashion week.

Athleisure is STILL not going anywhere, and with slits in side seams being particularly desirable right now, buttoned-up tracksuit bottoms it is. This fashionista is taking note of the cosy couture trend… but just couldn’t leave her metallic heels at home for such a stylish event, and we cannot blame her, we love the mint, white, pink and metallic mix!

Monochrome Leather & Pleather LooksStreet Style Picture From Milan Fashion Week Autumn /Winter 2018. Lady wearing black leather trousers and white leather boots. Outfit accessorised with a studded leather bag with fringing.

ABBA definitely have had influence over Milan’s street style this season. Space-style leather boots have become a must-have for any wardrobe and they are obviously best worn with … more leather! Be it leather or pleather, leggings or trousers, or even a coated finish on another fabric, the “wet look” returns. Monochrome has always been the way for any minimalist, and leather is the best way to be a little more daring with it. Why not combine style influences like this look: biker meets native American, meets ABBA on the moon.

Obviously an Orange OutfitStreet Style Picture From Milan Fashion Week Autumn /Winter 2018. Lady wearing white outfit. Felt jacket is orange with bleach fabric manipulation and is decorated with a crystal broach

It would have been a felony if Orange did not feature anywhere on the streets of Milan this month. We are loving this vintage bleach dye manipulation of this felt, jock-style jacket, especially teamed with clean white trousers and accessories to make the bright colour pop.

So as we have already mentioned metallics are big, like really big for Autumn/ Winter 2018, office party or otherwise. With statement tights and luxury leggings being super stylish for the next few seasons, metallics might as well join them to kill two birds with one stone as the saying goes, and draw attention to those fashionable pins. We also love the spike-studded heels of the above look, helping add an edge to the sparkly style.
